FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can everybody get a site at exto?
No, exto is only for visual artists, sites with content other than art will be deleted.
Can I use 'hit-generators' like monsoonhits or virtualtrafficjam?
No, please don't. These websites cause traffic, bur definitely no interested visitors, who most of the time don't look at what is on their screen, let alone the rest of your site. These sites cost a lot of traffic and money to exto, that is why we block these sites.
How do I prevent copying of my images?
Unfortunately, it is still hard to prevent 'stealing' of images on the internet. In most cases, 'the thief' can't do much with it, the images on exto aren't printing-quality. If 'the thief' does succeed than only in a small size. It is possible to put a watermark on your image, so when someone tries to print an image without your permission, this will be misformed. Some programs, like Photoshop have this option (like digimark). This isn't a standard option however, you will need to register for this.
If I don't use my site anymore, how can I remove it?
If you don't use your site anymore, you can send an email to support. Please mention the name of your site and ask us to delete it. Please remove all your themes and works yourself. We can only do this, if this email is coming from the same emailadress you have entered at your personal information.
I have my own site somewhere else, can I create a site on exto also?
That's no problem, but we recommend:
- Don't use your extosite as only as boost for your other site. This isn't interesting for visitors and the site probably won't be listed.
- You can create a link to your other site on your extosite, but also create a link back to your extosite and to exto.
Is there a maximum number of works to put on my site?
There is no maximum, but we advise you to keep your site well organised for your visitors. It is best to show relevant and representative works.
Is there a minimum number of works to put on exto?
You should have at least 1 infopage and 15 artworks in your gallery.
What are the keywords on my detailpage?
The keywords on your detailpage is the text you place with your artwork. On your detailpage, the visitor can see the artwork at large. When a visitor is looking for a specific artwork with a specific subject, he can find your work best when you put this in your text.
What are the keywords on my page that will be registered when I register my site at a search engine?
This is interesting information if you want that what you have to offer will be easily found by a potential visitor who enters search enigine keywords at a search engine. With some search engines you can enter title, description and keyword by hand, but most search engines will automatically use the following information from your introductionpage: Title: your name and the subtitle of your site. This is the text that will show at the top of your page, underneath your name, this can be a different title than you use in the menu. Description: The text you have entered at 'Personal information' about your work. Keywords: Your name and some common keywords from extocuracao. Next your theme-titles, as shown in the menu, and all theme-subtitles. If you want to have a look for yourself, go to your introductionpage, click your right mousekey and go to 'view source'. Now, you can see your pages' html. At the left you see the word 'meta' 3 times. Next to this you see title, desciption, keywords.
What do you mean by 'name' and 'short name'?
On your administrationpage at the top, you can enter a 'name' for the page or theme and down you can enter a 'short name' how it will show in the menu. 'Name' gives a description of the content of that page or theme, not too long and in readable text. Both 'name' and 'short name' will be in de keywords of your themepage.
What will happen with my personal information?
Your personal information will be only used in our internal files. We will not give it to third parties.
