This painting is inspired by travelling through Flanders, seeing the fields of poppies and a most inspiring poem by John McCrae " In Flanders Fields" The painting is made with layers of contrasting reds including carmine, magenta, terracotta, orange, metallic copper and azure blues and purple. The metallic copper paint cause an almost shimmering effect like a light breeze coming through the poppies at sunset.
